Voted Finalist in World Car of the Year 2014
Leading motoring journalists from around the world have voted the Infiniti Q50 as one of the finalists for the World Car of the Year title. The car is continuing to receive numerous accolades, in Canada independent motoring journalists have decreed the Infiniti Q50 as 2014’s Best Luxury Car, Best New Innovation (for the aircraft industry-inspired steer-by wire Direct Adaptive Steering) and Best New Safety Technology award for Predictive Forward Collision Warning.
In the annual ‘Best of What’s New’ competition in the US, the editors of Popular Science chose Infiniti’s Direct Adaptive Steering as one of their 12 Grand Award recipients. Describing the first production steer-by-wire system as “one of the biggest steps yet” to self-driving cars. Fintan Knight, Vice President Infiniti Europe, Middle East and Africa, said “the Q50 has already proven itself as a true contender with automotive commentators, test drivers and independent experts who even described it as a breath of fresh air in the German-dominated luxury saloon market. The Q50 is Infiniti’s standard bearer for breakthrough technology and we are delighted that so much of what we believe in has been recognised with these prestigious titles.”
The entry level 2.2 litre SE boasts specification of a very high standard including 17-inch alloy wheels and run-flat tyres plus LED in the rear light units. Scratch-shield paint is used to ensure unwanted minor scratches simply disappear, whilst chrome-trimmed twin exhaust pipes and halogen daytime running lights enhance the car’s sporting presence. Co2 emissions are less than 115g/km and the car returns an impressive 64mpg. The Infiniti Q50 has proved to be one of the ‘safest cars on the road’ and has a Five Star Euro NCAP rating. The car boasts the Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system which can warn the driver of the potential danger ahead and then automatically slow the vehicle down or even bring it to a complete halt if necessary.
Infiniti Brand launched in 1989
The Infiniti brand was launched in 1989 and the company is headquartered in Hong Kong with sales operations in approximately fifty countries. Its range of premium automobiles is currently built in manufacturing facilities in Japan and the United States. Production in China and Europe will start soon along with the expansion of the brand’s portfolio.
