Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupe wins award
The Jaguar F-TYPE R Coupe has been named ‘Best Coupe’ at the Auto Express New Car Awards. The dynamic F-TYPE Coupé is the most performance-focused, production Jaguar ever. The car boasts a 550PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that is capable of 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds and goes on to a limited top speed of 186mph.
Auto Express Editor-in-Chief Steve Fowler said “the Jaguar F-Type Coupé isn’t just one of the best cars we’ve driven this year, it’s one of the best cars we’ve ever driven. It’s a pulse-raising machine when it’s sitting still. Fire up the engine and the excitement level rises even further. Then take it for a drive and you’ll be in raptures, this is a car that delights every single sense. It’s one of the best British sports cars for a generation.”
Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director Jeremy Hicks said “it’s a huge honour to win an Auto Express New Car Award and every one at Jaguar is thrilled that F-TYPE Coupé won its category ahead of some strong competition. The experienced road testers at Auto Express rate the F-TYPE Coupé as best in class, and that is a testament to the work of our designers and engineers, and to the efforts of everyone at our Castle Bromwich manufacturing facility in ensuring that every Jaguar produced is of outstanding quality.”
Mr Hicks also added that Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr Ralf Speth was also honoured at the awards, with inclusion in the Auto Express Hall of Fame. Steve Fowler announced the award and said “this year our annual Brit List was expanded to have a bit of foreign flavour, when we counted down the top ten foreign nationals working in the UK car industry. One man stands head and shoulders above all others, having led two great British brands to incredible success. Jaguar and Land Rover are now the envy of the rest of the car business with their existing, and forthcoming, model line-ups. This man has led the development of the new ranges, while ensuring the very Britishness that makes them unique. In his time at the helm of JLR, the workforce has grown by 15,000 people, with further growth and investment brilliant news for the UK economy. It gives me enormous pleasure to reveal that the latest person to be added to the Auto Express Hall of Fame is the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, Dr Ralf Speth.”
