Jaguar Land Rover Step Up To Help Fight Against the Coronavirus

A massive fleet of 160 cars will be delivered to help aid relief

We saw that a couple of weeks ago the guys at MG were generous to offer a fleet of 100 ZS EV’s to NHS workers up and down the country who are currently fighting against the Coronavirus pandemic. Well, Jaguar Land Rover has stepped up to the plate too. A massive fleet of 160 vehicles will be distributed globally to the NHS and Red Cross.

57 of these vehicles, including 26 models of the brand new Defender, will go to the British Red Cross and they’ll be used to deliver food and medicine to vulnerable and elderly people across the entire UK.

Customer “Jaguar and Land Rover will do everything we can to support people in need around the world.

“Our partnership with the Red Cross goes back 65 years and we will work hand in hand with them to do all we can during this global health emergency.

“We will also provide help to those closer to home in our local communities. We can all play a part in helping the vulnerable during this global pandemic.”

We’re told that Land Rover teams from France, Spain, South Africa and Australia are also handing their vehicles over to their local Red Cross organisations. In a lot of instances, these vehicles have been made immediately available due to the cancellation of launch events, so they can be deployed where they are needed the most extremely efficiently.

Head of crisis response for the British Red Cross, Simon Lewis, said: “This unprecedented global health emergency requires us all to pull together. As part of the British Red Cross response to coronavirus, we’re delving deep into the heart of communities across the UK to help strengthen support for the most vulnerable people through delivering essential food parcels and medicines to those unable to get out.

“We have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown across the country, not only by our increasing number of volunteers, but also our longstanding partners. Thanks to Land Rover’s generous support, our emergency response teams in the UK will be to reach even more people living in isolated communities than we could alone.”

Jaguar Land Rovers support in the fight against Coronavirus doesn’t end there. Across their production facilities in Britain, there is a huge infrastructure of equipment and an enormous wealth of engineering knowledge which can be used in the fight against Coronavirus.

From research to 3d printing, distribution and mass production, Jaguar Land Rover alongside numerous other manufacturers are working hard to try and produce the necessary equipment needed to support the NHS and Britains key-workers.
