Kuga Gets More Diesel Power
Number of new options for Ford SUV
The most powerful diesel engine ever available in the Ford Kuga is among a number of new options for the sports utility vehicle
Kuga buyers can also choose a low emission petrol engine, superior equipment and new colours.
The powerful new diesel is the 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi. It generates 180PS and 400Nm of torque. Its predecessor powered 95% of the Kugas sold in the first 9 months of 2014 and weighs in at 163PS and 340Nm. The new unit produces 9.4% less carbon in manual form.
Furthermore, a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol replaces the 1.6-litre. The new version's emissions are 143g/km rather than 154g/km, which is 7% less.
Ford also has a new 2.0-litre, 150PS, diesel that produces 12.2% less carbon than the outgoing unit (manual).
Enhanced Equipment
Equipment enhancements include new features for Ford SYNC with AppLink, which now incorporates voice-activation. Its purpose is to enable drivers to interact without taking their hands off the wheel. Apps include music services.
Every Kuga also has a start/stop system that switches off the engine while stationary in traffic. This complements the active grille that closes to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
New Colours
Kuga colours now include Ruby Red Metallic, Magnetic Metallic and - for the first time on any Ford - Tiger Eye Metallic. The Titanium X trim also incorporates a new body-styling kit.
Roelant de Waard, Vice President for Marketing Sales and Service at Ford of Europe, says: “Ford has updated the range with models that deliver more power and lower emissions.”
“Tiger Eye metallic is a bold new colour not previously seen on any Ford vehicle, and SYNC with AppLink will help ensure drivers can be more connected on the move while keeping their eyes on the road.”
The Kuga is a sports utility vehicle that costs £22,645 to £33,530. It has 5 doors, 5 seats, the cargo capacity of a large estate and is available with front or 4-wheel-drive.
