Most popular model is the Mazda 2
Records have been broken even during the recession and September was the best month ever for Mazda despite the declining market.
The Mazda 2 was the most popular model in September with 4710 sales followed by the Mazda 3 with 2466 sales. There is a three and five door available, most buyers opt for petrol power where there’s a choice of 75 or 86ps 1.3-litre engines or a vaguely sporty 102ps 1.5. There is also1.4-litre 68ps and 1.6 90ps diesel versions. Prices for the Mazda 2 start at around £9,000 for the entry-level 75ps 1.3. Standard equipment on the Mazda 2 runs to ABS with Brake Assist and EBD, driver and front passenger airbags, remote central locking with deadlocks, electric front windows, driver seat height adjust, CD radio with AUX jack and two speakers, multi-function glovebox with magazine rack, Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser and electric door mirrors.
The interior of the Mazda 2 features a number of design touches such as a glove box with integrated magazine rack. There’s also a floor console between the front seats with a large rear tray affixed. In total there’s 250 litres of storage space which is impressive for such a small car. The Mazda 2 1.3 is capable of 0.60mph in 12.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 107mph.
