Mini Cooper S Royal Wedding Special Revealed
MINI reveals its special, one-off, hatchback to celebrate the royal wedding and raise cash for a children’s charity
Purpose of one-off vehicle
MINI has produced a bespoke, one-of-a-kind, vehicle to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding on May 19th, 2018 - and you can own it. This Cooper S 3-Door Hatch has numerous features that ensure it pays homage to the happy couple, stands out from the crowd and is considered a collector’s item by enthusiasts.
Special exterior features
The vehicle’s most striking exterior feature is its roof graphic that incorporates elements from the couple’s respective national flags. Prince Harry is British, of course. Union Jack red, white, and blue is, therefore, the prominent theme. Ms Markle, in contrast, is from The United States so horizontal stripes represent her flag.
Crystal White is the predominant colour for the rest of the bodywork. A series of silver-blue stripes on the bonnet, rear quarters and tailgate further emphasise the vehicle’s bespoke status. Expect more subtle outer features, too. Highlights include:
- Union Jack themed rear lights
- Blue-black tint chrome on the radiator grille frame, door handles, headlamp surrounds and rear light surrounds
- Dark blue metallic wheel rims (matt)
- Registration number that incorporates the correct new vehicle age identifier for the date of the royal wedding (YB18 HMS)
There are further touches. Note the front/right side scuttle that incorporates a turn signal light, for example. The H for Harry, M for Meghan and heart motif further prove the purpose of the car is to celebrate the royal wedding. When the door is open “just married” is projected onto the ground. This is replicated opposite.
Special interior features
Satellite Grey leather is the main interior fabric. Furthermore, the trim immediately forward of the front passenger seat incorporates the couple’s name, the date of the royal wedding and good luck messages. The colour theme from the roof graphic is replicated on the doors and behind the steering wheel. Also, expect:
- “MINI loves you” door sill plates
- “Love is” written on the sun visors
- British and American flag themed head restraints
MINI to be auctioned for charity
The MINI Cooper S Hatch will be donated to The Children’s HIV Association after the royal wedding. It is “one of the couple’s chosen charities”, the manufacturer confirmed. The vehicle will then be sent for auction so you could own it in the immediate future. Any money from the sale will be used to help sick children.
Head of MINI Design, Oliver Heilmer, emphasised that this car is “like no other” and a true one-off. “We are pleased to mark the royal wedding with this special charitable gift”, Mr Heilmer added.
