Motoring.co.uk is delighted to announce a sponsorship deal that supports the University of Strathclyde Formula Student team for the 2013 season. John Caslin, Head of IT at motoring.co.uk said: “we are delighted to support the University of Strathclyde Formula Student project”. The University of Strathclyde enters a racing car into the Formula Student competitions in Britain and Germany, where over 3000 students take part. A total of 132 teams from different countries around the world are challenged to design, manufacture and enter a vehicle to be put through its paces at the famous Silverstone track in the UK and Nuremburg in Germany. The opportunity allows students to implement the skills they are learning on their courses in a practical and competitive environment, with some universities including the project as part of their degree. “Developing young engineering talent is vital the future of the motoring industry, and we are happy to aid in supporting that development through this sponsorship" Adds Caslin.
Roy Yuile, Technical Director of the team said: "Formula Student is an incredible way for young engineers to develop their practical, technical and management skills outside of the lecture theatre by designing, building and racing a single seat racing car…”
Sponsorship is vital for the team to continue operating and the benefits of the experience for the students is recognised by the university itself, with the Engineering Faculty and the Graduates Association also involved in sponsoring the team.
“Strathclyde are one of the UK's top FS teams, competing at Silverstone and Hockenheim every year - our sponsors and partners provide us with the resources we need to run a successful race team, and we're immensely grateful for this opportunity! Without their support, our team simply could not exist.” Said Yuile
