New 2017 Jaguar F-TYPE Coupé & Convertible Revealed
New F-TYPE styling, engine, trim, equipment and price overview.
The New Jaguar F-TYPE is a sporty, fashionable, convertible/coupé range available from the first quarter of 2017. Like its predecessor – that the manufacturer confirmed won close to 160 awards throughout its life - this twin-seater is available with rear or all-wheel-drive, 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission and engines that provide a tremendous amount of power.
New, 2017, F-TYPE styling is evolutionary rather than revolutionary. Enhancements include new bumpers that have “discrete signature features” to make it easier to differentiate models in the range, Jaguar said. Single, lozenge shape, apertures at the corners of the front bumpers replace double “shark gill” equivalents and incorporate mesh. There are full LED headlamps, too.
Jaguar said: “Sports car design is about proportion and purity. The most challenging element of the process for designers is to focus on and maintain an exciting silhouette which promises performance.”
Engine, performance, fuel efficiency and emissions
New Jaguar F-TYPE engines include the: 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged 340PS, 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged 380PS, 3.0-litre Supercharged 400PS, 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged 550PS and the 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged 575PS. 0 to 60mph times range from 3.5 seconds to 5.1 seconds, top speed from 161mph to 200mph, average fuel consumption from 25mpg to 33.6mpg and carbon emissions from 199g/km to 269g/km.
Trims and equipment
Trims are: F-TYPE, F-TYPE R-DYNAMIC, F-TYPE 400 SPORT – a limited edition version to celebrate the launch – F-TYPE R and the F-TYPE SVR which is the manufacturer's “all-weather supercar”, it explained. All have the Touch Pro infotainment system that has a tablet-style interface and – among countless other things – provides real-time information such as traffic and weather reports.
Other standard features include the: satellite navigation, engine stop/start button, electric sports seats, active sports exhaust, dynamic stability control, electric parking brake, automatic windscreen wipers, self-dimming rear-view mirror and paddles mounted close to the steering wheel for changing gears (auto only).
The New, 2017, F-TYPE also incorporates the ReRun application (in certain forms). It combines real-time video – as supplied by GoPro – with performance data such as: speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking force and g-force. Such videos can be transferred to mobiles and shared on social media such as Facebook.
