New BMW 3 Series Euro NCAP
The new BMW 3 Series is safer than a rock covered in cotton wool and locked in a volt.
The new BMW 3 Series is safer than a rock covered in cotton wool and locked in a volt. How can we tell? Because it earned Euro NCAP's maximum five-star safety rating – and Euro NCAP is the independent body that assesses vehicle safety. The five-star rating breaks down to scores of 95% for adult occupant protection, 84% for child occupants, and 78% for pedestrians. The 3 Series also earned 86% for the safety assist category which includes gadgets such as the electronic stability programme and the seatbelt reminder system. The former uses computers and sensors to keep this fashion statement pointing the right direction, the latter does as it says on the tin. It even operates on the rear seating. The new BMW 3 Series has virtues beyond its rock-like safety credentials. Highlights over its predecessor include more distinctive styling, a larger saloon-style boot, and an easier to read sat-nav screen. Amazingly, the handling has been improved too. This mile-muncher, therefore, feels even more rock-like through corners. This complements the revised cabin that is comfortable, and feels more robust than granite. And, of course, there is BMW's legendary choice of petrol and diesel engines. The best of these offer a fantastic balance between performance and economy. The 3 Series has always been one of the best in its class - and the new model is no exception. Now, where did I lose that cotton covered rock?
