The Volkswagen Polo 1.2 is amongst the cheapest cars to insure as these models fall into car insurance group 4 out of 50. The latest Volkswagen Polo is solid, stylish, excellently engineered and looking a lot like a little Volkswagen Golf. Emissions are low and miles per gallon are high. It is a desirable and popular supermini with a great image which results in favoured resale values.

The new Toyota iQ fits in to insurance group 3. Costs are so low, the manual Toyota iQ is in the free road tax band, economy is excellent the 1.0 engine returning an impressive 65mpg. The Fiat 500 1.2i is another supermini that offers low insurance. The Fiat 500 comes with Start&Stop which further reduces it Co2 emissions down to 110g/km. This car comfortably seats four people and is fantastic value to the consumer as well as being one of the greenest cars in its class.
