New Engine For The Suzuki Swift
Fewer Trips To The Fuel Station
The popular Suzuki Swift will be available with a new engine early next year. The new 1.2 petrol engine incorporates Suzuki’s latest technology that utilises twin fuel injectors for improved fuel economy.
The latest technology is known as ‘Dualjet’ and means the Swift will be capable of 65.7mpg which is an impressive 16 per cent improvement over the current petrol engine. Co2 emissions have been to 99g/km which results in fewer trips to the fuel station plus the extra benefit of exempt Vehicle Excise Duty which is another massive saving.
The new Dualjet technology for the Swift will initially be available as an optional engine choice on SZ4 two wheel drive models and will cost around an additional £500 but final prices will be confirmed closer to introduction.
The Swift is available in either a three or a five door and popularity is due to the very low cost of ownership. The range includes a 1.3 DDiS model which has Co2 emissions of only 109g/km and the current 1.2 petrol is approximately 116g/km. If running costs are not an issue then the Suzuki Swift Sport could be your choice. The Swift Sport is capable of 0-62mph in just 8.7 seconds and can reach a top speed of 121mph.
For a small car the Swift is quite spacious inside and standard equipment is very generous, all models feature seven airbags, ESP, radio/CD player with USB port, remote central locking and immobiliser, electric front windows, electric and heated door mirrors and steering wheel-mounted audio controls. The Swift has a five star Euro NCAP rating and scored ninety-four points for Adult occupancy protection at launch in 2010, the highest of vehicles tested at the time.
The Swift has won ‘sixty-seven’ Awards
The Suzuki Swift has now passed the four million sales mark since it was launched in 2004, the car was available in the UK from 2005 and more than 90,000 have been sold.
