Ford start production of the fastest ever Fiesta
Production has started of the new Ford Fiesta ST which is the first Fiesta capable of 0-62mph in less than seven seconds, even though it’s quick off the mark it is still very fuel efficient returning 48mpg with co2 emissions of 138g/km.
Juergen Gagstatter, chief programme engineer, Performance Cars, Ford of Europe said “the new Fiesta ST is a very modern performance car built on more than thirty years of fast Fiestas and a global development process. This vehicle is a significant step forward, both in terms of our proud heritage of blending a powerful engine with a dynamic chassis, and also in achieving reduced fuel consumption and emissions.” The Ford Fiesta ST is equipped with a 1.6 litre Eco Boost petrol engine and Ford’s turbocharged Twin-independent Variable Camshaft Timing EcoBoost engine to achieve the faster acceleration. The exterior of the ST is extremely sporty with a black honey comb trapezoidal front grille, a large rear spoiler with twin air vents and a twin exhaust to complete the look. You can go even sportier adding red brake calipers and grey alloy wheels.
Standard Specification is very impressive
The standard specification included is very impressive; 17” alloy wheels, air conditioning, Recaro seats, halogen projector headlamps, ST front fog lights, DAB radio, SYNC connectivity, Thatcham CAT1 alarm plus Fords new technology MyKey. You can add more if you opt for the ST trim, then you get partial leather heated Recaro seats, Sony DAB radio, Ford keyless start, privacy glass and LED daytime running lamps. The Fiesta ST boasts some fantastic driving refinements so no wonder it looked so good in the recent blockbuster film ‘The Sweeney’, it has new steering, braking components, configuration and tuning, plus an enhanced version of Ford’s Torque Vectoring Control system, and a three-mode Electronic Stability Control system contribute to a rewarding and secure driving experience.
The Ford Fiesta ST is priced from £16,995. This new model is in the showrooms now and is a hugely exciting car. It is priced two thousand pounds less than any of its similar competitors so it really is worth exploring if you are looking for a sporty but fuel efficient car. UK sales are forecast at approximately five thousand per year and there is no doubt this will be achieved as orders have exceeded fifteen thousand already.
