New Ford Focus with 99/km Co2 Emissions
Most fuel efficient family petrol car
The new Ford Focus 1.0 litre EcoBoost is an ultra efficient version that will be the first petrol powered family car in Europe to offer 99/km Co2 emissions. It will be exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty and London Congestion Charge. The new Ford Focus will feature Ford ECOnetic Technology including ultra-low rolling resistance tyres, unique aerodynamics under the car and revised gearing to help deliver the company’s most fuel-efficient ever petrol-powered family car. Barb Samardzich, European Product Development vice president said “just a couple of years ago few would have thought that a medium-sized petrol car could break the 100g/km CO 2 barrier, Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has a habit of taking expectations of what a petrol engine can deliver and turning them upside down.”
Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine uses a low inertia turbocharger, split cooling system and direct fuel injection to deliver surprising levels of performance from the three-cylinder engine block. The new Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost 99 g/km will also use a range of fuel-efficient Ford ECOnetic Technologies including Auto-Start-Stop, Smart Regenerative Charging, Active Grille Shutter and Ford EcoMode to support a more economical and environmentally friendly driving style.
New model goes on sale early 2014
This new model will go on sale early in 2014; it will extend to three the number of Focus models offered with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, alongside the standard 100PS version, with 109g/km CO 2 emissions, and the 125PS with 114g/km CO 2 . The EcoBoost turbo-charged, direct injection engine is Ford's smallest, yet highest power density petrol engine ever, delivering the performance of a conventional 1.6-litre engine with improved fuel efficiency and lower CO 2 emissions. The Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost is class-leading in fuel economy and CO 2 emissions in the C-segment for petrol-engine vehicles.
The Ford Focus is officially the bestselling car in the world and this new fuel efficient petrol version will no doubt be another best seller. Returning approximately 67.5mpg the new model will be a welcome new addition providing even more choice for prospective buyers. Ford is also currently launching the zero emissions Focus Electric, and also offers the diesel Ford Focus ECOnetic that delivers 88g CO 2 emissions.
Sherif Marakby, medium car vehicle line director, Ford of Europe said “with the Ford Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost, Focus Electric and Focus ECOnetic, Ford offers customers an unrivalled power of choice of fuel-efficient family cars.”
