Lotus Project Eagle spotted testing
New Lotus Project Eagle
The new Lotus sports car has been spotted out winter testing ahead of its expected debut at the British Motor Show in July.
The Project Eagle will be the new Lotus flagship, offering a step up in performance, luxury and status from the established Elise family.
Low weight is a Lotus trademark and you can be sure that the firm's Versatile Vehicle Architecture, which uses extruded aluminium bonded together to form a stiff, light structure will provide this. According to Lotus the Eagle will use a composite roof as a stress bearing part of the structure, further boosting stiffness, while the modular front and rear sub assemblies will bolt onto a central tub. Aluminium suspension components - as showcased on the front subframe at Geneva - will further reduce the weight while proven race components such as Bilstein dampers and AP Racing brakes will also feature.
