The all new Mazda CX-5 will be launched next year, this is a completely new car and the first Mazda built using Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology. The new SKYACTIV technology encompasses the whole car through the intelligent application of advanced engine, transmission, body and chassis technology and lightweight engineering.
Susumu Niinai, the man in charge of the SKYACTIV petrol and diesel engines said “initial media feedback on early drives of Mazda’s CX-5 has been very positive, we are very confident; it is quiet and accelerates well.” Expectations are high for the diesel-automatic to be a popular choice in the UK and across Europe due to the historical demand for diesels.
The engine line-up for the European specification Mazda CX-5 will include Mazda's SKYACTIV-G 2.0 gasoline engine and SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engine, which will be available in Standard Power and High Power versions. Each engine has a record-breaking compression ratio of 14:1 for ideal efficiency. Mazda's engineers focused on achieving exceptional environmental performance for a compact SUV and targeted CO2 emissions of less than 120g/km for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 engined model.
