New Mazda MX-5 from only 14,995

Motoring.co.uk's new car database reveals sun loving motorists can cruise around in a new Mazda MX-5 from only £14,995. This rock bottom price is fantastic for a capable roadster that is great to drive, beautifully constructed, and guaranteed to keep you smiling for years to come. The current third generation MX-5 was introduced in 2005 and revised in 2009. Potential owners can choose from two petrol engines, the 124bhp 1.8-litre and the 157bhp 2.0-litre. Now, the MX-5 is no slouch but neither is it the fastest roadster on the market. The smaller engined variant takes 9.6 seconds to reach 60mph, and the 2.0-litre requires 7.4 seconds to hit this benchmark. Top speeds range from 121-134mph. Despite this lack of ultimate pace the MX-5 is tremendously enjoyable to drive. The rear-wheel drive chassis is pin-sharp and, even with the roof down, there is very little roll or vibration to spoil the party. The MX-5 has plenty of traction and various electronic safety systems to keep you pointing in the right direction, so it sticks to the road like a starving leech. The ride is also impressively comfortable so this likeable convertible is a surprisingly relaxing motorway cruiser. The only significant downside to owning the two-seater MX-5 is practicality. Okay, the manual roof easily folds away and the electric version is better still, but the cabin feels smaller than a size-three shoebox. Luggage capacity is also rather modest so squeezing in the weekly shopping can be more tedious than a sudoku puzzle book. But hey, look at the bright side, the MX-5 is great value for money and can thrill enthusiastic motorists for mile after mile.
