The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will so be technically advanced it may actually be capable of space travel. After all, surely this feat would be virtually effortless for any machine that has front-facing video cameras, pedestrian detectors, and a 'Magic Ride Control' system that can (apparently) reduce body movement by up to 50%. Amazing stuff, so perhaps this top-of-the-range saloon can also cook the dinner. The forthcoming S-Class will not be available for a year or two, but a few camouflaged spy shots have recently emerged from the vacuum of space. The overall styling looks familiar, as it appears to share the purposeful proportions and sleek lines of the current generation. However, there will be changes as this magnificent new machine is likely to share DNA from the striking F700 concept car. The interior looks set to be fantastic too, as it is rumoured to be an all new design inspired by a second concept, the jaw-dropping F800. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be available with a range of revised V6 and V8 petrol engines, as well as various diesel units to make trips to Mars more economical. In fact, the entry-level 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel model is likely to be reasonably frugal, while still producing a highly creditable 201bhp. Powerful petrol versions, by contrast, may guzzle gas like the Space Shuttle Discovery. Still, never mind – it's only money.
