MG Motor UK has supplied one-hundred vehicles to Avis, one of the UK's leading car rental firms. Motorists can now cruise along in the MG6 GT Fastback and the MG6 Magnette sports saloon. This is a significant coup for the legendary manufacture as it works to flourish in a competitive market. It is also noteworthy news for British car lovers. These machines were designed and engineered in Birmingham, and – whereas the bulk of construction takes place in China - the final assembly is completed in the United Kingdom.Anthony Ainsworth, Commercial Director of Avis Rent a Car, said: “We are extremely pleased to see the iconic MG marque back again and know that our customers will be delighted to be offered the chance to drive an MG when they hire a car from us.” The MG6 range is a memorable package, but arguably not the most complete. The 'Fastback' trim is a five-door hatchback and the 'Magnette' name has been revived from saloons of the distant past. Every trim is powered by a 1.8-litre 158bhp petrol engine, so this lack of choice puts-off some potential buyers. The handling is more fun-focussed than some rivals, but it needs further development to 'trump' the best. It is, however, great to see the company back on the road. I look forward to the day that everyone craves an MG.
