Great deals on the MINI Roadster ahead of Summer
MINI Roadster low cost finance brings this lifestyle statement within reach of enthusiastic drivers. The manufacturer will – for any trim in the range – contribute £800 towards the deposit at a low Representative APR of 1.9%.
The MINI Roadster has two seats and a soft-top fabric roof. The latter can be opened or closed in about eight seconds while travelling at low speed. The manufacturer claims: “the moment the black soft-top is opened and disappears with lightning speed behind the polished stainless steel roll-over bars, you’ll want to jump in.”
The MINI Roadster cockpit – unlike some rivals – is stylish and memorable. Highlights include the circular dials, sports seats, contrasting colours and robust feel that suggest it is built to last. Considering the car's compact proportions, it also feels pleasingly spacious. Cargo capacity is comparable to a supermini.
The handling is everything an enthusiast might expect. The steering is beautifully weighted, it confidently charges through corners, the gearbox has a sporty feel and the ride is comfortable. MINI says: “as soon as this two-seater starts moving, you’ll start to experience that roadster feeling. Its suspension, rigid body and low centre of gravity guarantee maximum agility and a whole lot of fun.”
MINI Cooper Roadster
The MINI Roadster comes in various engines. The Cooper trim has a 1.6-litre, 122hp, petrol engine that propels it to 62mph in 9.2 seconds and averages 49.6mpg. Standard equipment includes: air-conditioning, a start/stop button and park distance control.
MINI Cooper S Roadster
The Cooper S features a 184bhp turbocharged petrol engine, charges to 62mph in 7.0 seconds and returns 47.1mpg. Compared to the Cooper trim, it also has a lockable glove box and stainless steel pedals.
MINI Cooper SD Roadster
Cooper SD is the most fuel efficient trim and – like the S – has a glove box and stainless steel pedals. Power comes via a 2.0-litre, 143hp, diesel that averages 62.8mpg. It hits 62mph in 8.1 seconds.
MINI John Cooper Works Roadster
The John Cooper Works has a 1.6-litre, 211bhp, petrol that propels it to 62mph in 6.5 seconds and averages 41.5mpg. Its potent engine complements an aerodynamic kit that includes side sill extenders.
MINI Roadster Rivals
Rivals include the Mazda MX-5, Citroen DS3 Cabrio and Audi TT Roadster. Each has its strengths, but even in this competitive field the MINI excels. It feels complete, like it has been created by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. For unquantifiable reasons, it feels right - and that is the best praise a roadster can receive.
