Peugeot 2008 ‘stunning’ new crossover
The Peugeot 2008 will be shown off at the Geneva Motor Show this week, it is an exciting addition to the Peugeot range boasting a mix of contemporary styling, clean and efficient engines plus a versatile interior.
Eric Dejou, 2008 Design Manager said “creating the 2008 was a great challenge but we had a very precise idea of the vehicle that we wanted to offer customers. The style brought to life in an early phase did not require any major modifications up until production. The very first sketch was perfect.” The exterior of the car has a dynamic yet elegant profile which is enhanced by the roof bars, the front of the car has a powerful and dominant look created by the floating grille which is cut from a solid block and set upright, the sculpted headlamps and LED daytime running lights complete the look as does the stylish matt finished alloy wheels, black bumpers and body sills. The chromed side mouldings are another attractive feature. There is also a huge range of personalization option for owners including body decal designs.
The interior is equally as stunning, Agnès Tesson Faget, 2008 Product Project Manager, said “we wanted to create an exceptional on board space for our customers which takes care of all the occupants and offers them new sensations. The unique ergonomics of the instruments and controls, the careful choice of materials, the quality of assembly, the light ambience ... the 2008 stimulates the senses.” It is truly luxurious with a smart satin chrome finish to the air vents, handbrake lever, steering wheel, gear lever and touch-screen trims. It is spacious with folding 60:40 split rear seats which boosts storage volume from 360 to 1,194 litres, of which 22 litres are under the floor. One press of the button at the top of the rear seat back is all it takes to fold the seat, as the base cushion retracts automatically, so there is no crawling around in this car trapping your fingers trying to adjust the seats for space. Rear passengers also benefit for a 12v power socket for the connection of a portable device and can access he boot even when on the move.
Efficient Petrol and Diesel engines
The new Peugeot 2008 is available with a range of fuel efficient engines, with fuel economy as high as 61.8mpg and CO2 emissions as low as 98g/km. Eric Tomietto, Stop&Start Project Manager, said “Stop&Start allows the 2008 to offer excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions while retaining a high level of driving pleasure. The six engines fitted with this system start with CO2 at only 98g/km for diesel and 99g/km for petrol.” The Peugeot 2008 will bring new sophistication to the market; there is no doubt that it will be extremely successful with its contemporary design and low emission engines.
