The stunning Peugeot 308 is available to order now and will go on sale January 2014. The all new compact family hatchback has made it to the final seven models shortlisted for the prestigious European Car of the Year award for 2014. The final seven cars will be rigorously tested by the judges over the coming week and details of the winner will be revealed on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, on 3rd March 2014.
Tim Zimmerman, Managing Director of Peugeot UK said “this is an excellent and thoroughly deserved endorsement of the huge leap forward we have made with the New 308. Customers choosing the car can be confident in its outstanding driving dynamics, environmental credentials and quality.” Peugeot’s performance in the European Car of the Year is strong, particularly with its Compact Family Hatchback models. The manufacturer has won the award three times since its inception in 1964, most recently with the 307 in 2002.
The new Peugeot 308 is offered in four trim levels; Access, Active, Allure and Feline and will be available with five petrol and HDi diesel engines, all of these engines offer class-leading fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The highlight for environmentally aware drivers will be the 1.6-litre HDi 92, which has CO2 emissions of just 93g/km. A three cylinder turbocharged 1.2 litre e-THP petrol engine will join the choice of engines in the spring of 2014 together with Blue HDi models that include an engine with emissions of just 82g/km. The new Peugeot 308 also benefits from innovative driving assistance systems such as active cruise control, collision risk alert, automatic emergency braking, keyless entry and starting, blind spot sensors, reversing camera with parking guidance and Peugeot Connect SOS (emergency call) and Peugeot Connect Assistance services.
The 308 has also been awarded the maximum score of five stars in the Euro NCAP tests with individual scores of five stars in all four categories which include adult protection, pedestrian protection, child protection and safety assist. The tests carried out by the independent Euro NCAP were done using the new tighter protocol for allocating results. The New Peugeot 308 has high-levels of safety protection, particularly in the equipment fitted as standard such as cruise control-speed limiter, ESP, ASR+ traction control, six airbags (two frontal, two lateral, two curtain), three-point anchorage Isofix mountings and electric parking brake and Hill Start Assist from ACTIVE trim models (level 2). Prices will start at approximately £14,495.
