New Porsche Cayenne GTS For 2014
New Porsche Cayenne GTS: What Is It?
The Porsche Cayenne is a large, prestigious, 4x4 that has 4 doors and a respectable size boot. The newly revised GTS trim – its manufacture claims – has “notably enhanced levels of dynamics, performance and driver involvement” compared to its lesser siblings.
New Porsche Cayenne GTS: What Engine?
The Porsche Cayenne GTS has a 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo that produces 440hp and 600Nm of torque (between 1,600rpm and 5,000 rpm). That is 20hp more, and 85Nm more torque, than the outgoing engine. Power is transferred to the road via 8-speed auto transmission.
The GTS hits 62mph in 5.2 seconds, or 5.1 if fitted with the optional Sport Chrono Package. This incorporates a “sport plus” button that forces the engine to be more responsive, stiffens the suspension and makes the steering more direct. The Pack also adds a timer for comparing lap times. Top speed is 162mph and it averages about 28mpg.
New Porsche Cayenne GTS: What Equipment Does It Have?
The GTS has large brake discs and red callipers borrowed from the Turbo trim. It also benefits from 8-way electric leather seats, bi-xenon headlights and climate control.
As standard, the Cayenne GTS has steel suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management. The latter constantly adjusts the response of the dampers – for each wheel and based on road conditions – to ensure the car's handling is optimal. Air suspension that enables the vehicle to be lowered and raised is an optional extra.
New Porsche Cayenne GTS: How Is The Styling?
The GTS has a range of styling cues to elevate it above the lower trims. These include the “turbo nose” section that incorporates large air intakes, more contoured side sills and wheel arch extensions. These complement black colouring on the exhaust tailpipes, headlight inners and LED rear lights. “GTS” lettering on its front doors complete the look.
Porsche Cayenne GTS: How Much Is It?
The Porsche Cayenne GTS costs from £72,523.
Porsche Cayenne: Anything else I need to know?
The GTS is joined in the range by a revised entry-level model, badged “Cayenne”. It has a 3.6-litre, V6, naturally aspirated engine, produces 300 hp and accelerates to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds (7.6 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono Package). Prices start from £49,576.
