The new Renault Scenic is perfect for parents.
The new Renault Scenic is perfect for parents who feel like their teenage kids under-appreciated taxi driver. Now, teenagers generally hate their parents but they will love the Scenic's family focused flexibility. This starts with a range of versatile engines including three petrols and four diesels. Kids will favour the 1.5-litre 103bhp diesel as it returns a cost cutting combined average of 55mpg. This, they will conclude, leaves their parents with plenty of extra cash for 'pocket money' and the latest computer games. However, this model is slower to sixty than a clapped-out skateboard so the 2.0-litre diesel is a better choice. This 147bhp variant hits 60mph in 9.8 seconds, reaches 124mph, and returns a respectable average of 40mpg. The Scenic impresses further when families climb into the spacious cabin. Seven seats come as standard as there is more storage space than a fitted wardrobe. The handling is also composed and confident and a considerable improvement on its uninspiring predecessor. There is also the reassurance of the Euro NCAP maximum five-star safety grading, and evidence that Renault has worked hard to improve build quality. Motoring.co.uk's new car database reveals the new Renault Scenic is listed with 'buy safe' sellers from £12,495 - £23,762.
