New Safety Technology from Toyota for the Aygo and Yaris
Toyotas popular city cars will now benefit from advanced safety technology, the Yaris supermini and Aygo City car are now offered with Toyota Safety Sense.
All round City Cars
The Yaris is a popular car that delivers fantastic fuel economy and has co2 emissions below 100g/km. The Aygo is equally as popular, extremely economical with low emissions with no road tax to pay. The Aygo is powered by an improved version of Toyota’s award-winning three-cylinder 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine and is offered with a choice of manual or new x-shift automated manual transmissions. The top line combined cycle performance figures are 74.3mpg and 88g/km CO2 emissions.
Toyota Safety Sense
Toyota Safety Sense has various features including a laser controlled Pre-Collison system which will warn the driver of any imminent collision ahead, the system prepares pre-crash brake assist to deliver emergency braking when the brake pedal is pressed. The system will initiate autonomous emergency braking bringing the speed down to approximately 19mph if the driver fails to take action after the pre collision system kicks in. Also included is the land departure alert function, this monitors land markings on the road and will prevent accidents caused by vehicles moving out of it lane. The system alerts drivers with visual and audible warnings if the car deviates from its lane without indicators being used.
Lane Departure Alert
A Lane Departure Alert function is also included. This monitors lane markings on the road and helps prevent accidents and head-on collisions caused by a vehicle moving out of its lane. If the car starts to deviate from its lane without the indicators being used, the system alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings.
Toyota Safety Sense is already available on the new Avensis and the Auris, the option on the new Aygo models excluding the x grade are priced from £375 and the package for the Yaris excluding the Active is priced at £400.
