Rival for Juke and Captur
The new Ssangyong Tivoli - an attractive compact car with the feel of an SUV - will arrive in May 2015, to rival small SUVs including the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur.
SsangYong’s UK distributors are still putting the finishing touches to the model line-up, pricing and specification. Once the range is complete, pricing will probably start at less than £13,000 and finish close to £20,000.
The Tivoli has an attractive exterior, particularly in light colours. It is nicely proportioned and certainly large enough for a family of four, with good rear leg and headroom even for six-footers. The spacious boot has a 423-litre capacity, which will be split-level in upper-trim models.
Petrol versions will arrive first, with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. Diesels will follow a couple of months later and an all-wheel-drive option will arrive around August. Fuel economy is impressive at approximately 44.1mpg and the Tivoli is capable of 0-62mph in 12 seconds.
All versions will have the variable steering system, alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, stability control and at least six airbags. Higher spec cars are likely to offer leather upholstery, dual-zone air-conditioning, automatic lights and wipers, a sunroof and a further airbag to protect the driver’s knees.
There is also a 7-inch central screen, plus a cable to connect a smartphone. While black or beige comprise the standard interior colour schemes, red is also an option if you fancy something a bit more wacky.
