Production begins early next year
The new Tesla Model X electric SUV will hit the production lines early in 2015, greater news for the reservation holders is that the falcon wing doors will make the production model and all models will feature all wheel drive and there will be an option of a third row of seating. Tesla’s flagship vehicle is the Model S, which sold about 22,500 units in 2013. The company is still scaling up the production of the Model S so there is no doubt that the company will take the rollout of the Model X slowly as well.
Most concept cars with pie in the sky features don't make it to the production line but Tesla is quite unique, the Model S was showed with rear facing seats not something you would expect to get to production but they made it and now the Model X will be produced with the fantastic falcon wing doors. If you are a reservation holder then its good news all round as only the models for reservation holders will be produced in 2015 and it may not be available for general purchase until much later next year.
The Tesla Model X is designed from the ground up to blend the best of an SUV with the benefits of a minivan as only an electric car can. It is an automobile above category built around the driver providing unfettered performance and brilliant functionality. The Tesla Vehicle Platform enables Model X to perform in ways never expected from a car of its size. With a center of gravity lower than any other SUV, you’ll notice nimble reflexes at every turn. The electric powertrain delivers instant torque for confident lane changes, even when loaded with seven adults and all their gear. Model X comes standard with Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive. The second motor enables more than all-weather, all-road capabilities: it increases torque and traction in everyday conditions. The Tesla Model X is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds which outperforms the fastest SUVs and many sports cars.
The fantastic falcon wings are absolutely stunning but functional they open up and out of the way even in the narrowest of parking spots, you can easily step and not climb into the Model X. This car is most definitely the ultimate head turner.
