At last! We finally know that... prices for the Toyota GT 86 will start at £24,995 when it hits the showrooms in June 2012. We have been pondering that for months. This two-door sports car is, according to its manufacturer, the 'world's most compact four-seater'. As such, its length is 4,240mm which is only 290mm more than the Ford Fiesta. Never fear though, good things come in small packages. The styling, for starters, is major a plus. This coupé looks striking and aggressive thanks to its bulging bonnet and purposeful grill. It is clearly worth squinting through a magnifying lens to admire this tiny car's sweeping profile. The Toyota GT 86 has a 2.0-litre flat-four boxer engine, that can be teamed with six-speed manual or six-speed auto transmission. This produces 197bhp, which is plenty in a car the size of a mouse. The race to 62mph takes around seven seconds, which is how long it takes to decide you love the GT 86. Top speed is in the region of 145mph. This beauty also has super-sharp handling thanks – in part – to its limited-slip differential and near- perfect front to rear weight distribution. Furthermore, whereas the Toyota GT 86 has ABS and an electronic stability programme, these preserve the thrill of motoring by 'butting- out' unless absolutely necessary. Rejoice then, the Toyota GT 86 is finally here. Best hold tight.
