Bargain lovers take note... The Nissan Micra 1.2 Acenta could be your new best friend from only £149 per-month, at 6.9% APR. This thirty-six payment personal contract purchase also requires a deposit, so wannabe owners best raid their piggy banks for a further £2,786. The final purchase payment, which is optional, is only £3.552. Happy days. The Acenta is the most 'sensibly' equipped model in the range. As such, this mid-spec trim has useful features missing from the base model – but lacks an arguably unnecessary gadget glued to the top-spec version. Let me explain. The Acenta has: split/fold rear seats, air-con, electric mirrors, and alloys. The entry-level Visia does not – despite them being handy. The top-of-the-range DIG-S Tekna's only major equipment enhancement is parking sensors - and these are unnecessary on tiny cars. Okay, the top-end version is slightly faster and has an auto gearbox – but is that really worth a further £3,500 on the list price? The Nissan Micra Acenta (in five-speed manual form) also has respectable performance. Its 1.2-litre 80PS petrol engine propels it to 62mph in 13.7 seconds, and it is capable of 106mph. This 'appropriately' equipped model is fairly fuel efficient too. It averages 56.5mpg; increasing to a pleasing 65.7mpg on the extra-urban cycle. Through town this easy-to-drive supermini returns a cash-saving 46.3mpg. Furthermore, its emissions are merely 115g/km, so this urban maestro can be taxed annually for £30. Throw-in the spacious cabin, robust build quality, and sharp looks and the Acenta makes perfect sense.
