Hatchback crossover received highest Euro NCAP rating in class
Parents should look favourably on the Nissan Qashqai, which was found to be the safest small family car on the market in Euro NCAP tests last year.
The award-winning crossover scored more points for safety than any other car in its class tested during 2014, thanks to a host of new and innovative safety features, including the Nissan Safety Shield.
The new Qashqai displayed exceptional performance in both child protection and child occupancy tests.
The new Qashqai's Safety Shield technologies incorporate Forward Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
The Nissan Safety Shield also features Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection - systems made possible and accessible thanks to Nissan’s acclaimed Around View Monitor technology.
More than just a hatchback
The Nissan Qashqai has a lot to offer. It is not quite a 4x4, but it is more than just a hatchback.
The interior space is excellent, offering plenty of head and legroom.
The rear seat bench is wide enough to carry three and the boot is big and can be expanded to 660 litres when the rear seats are split.
Standard features are very generous, including dual zone climate control air conditioning, 17in alloy wheels, cruise control and remote central door locking with Superlocking.
There is also a CD player with USB input and four speakers, four powered windows, audio with Bluetooth hands free telephone kit, ultrasonic rear park system and ultrasonic alarm system.
Four different engine options are available, including a 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre petrol and the choice of a 1.5 and 2.0 litre diesel, so there is something for everyone.
The other great advantage of choosing the Qashqai is the fuel efficiency, as the car is capable of returning 62.8mpg.
Good news for the family budget is that Road Tax on this crossover is only £30, making it a safe bet that it will enjoy good sales this year.
