Own a Ford Fiesta? Live in Essex? Free Parking!

The UK’s top selling Ford Fiesta brings many things to its owners but if you happen to own one and live in Essex then you can benefit from free parking in Essex County Council parks

The UK’s top selling Ford Fiesta brings many things to its owners but if you happen to own one and live in Essex then you can benefit from free parking in Essex County Council parks. Essex County Council says that drivers of any car with CO2 emissions of 99g/km or below do not have to pay for parking charges at its nine country parks. They include locations including Hadleigh Country Park, in Benfleet, which hosted the Olympic Games’ mountain biking, and Thorndon Country Park and Weald Country Park, near Brentwood.

Andy Barratt, Ford Britain sales director, said “Ford’s most efficient cars are rightly recognised by the operators of Essex’s green spaces and country parks. The UK’s top selling car, the Ford Fiesta, can save on fuel and now on parking too right on our doorstep.”

Six of Ford’s models are below the road tax threshold; this is a welcome saving in such a tough climate. The new Ford Fiesta’s three award-winning 1.0-litre petrol, two 1.6 TDCi and 1.5 TDCi diesel engines all emit under 100g CO2/km which equates to fuel economy of between 65.7 and 85.6mpg. Two Ford Fiesta Vans and two Ford Focus models also qualify.

The new Ford Fiesta has just gone into production and will be on sale early in the New Year priced from just £9795. It is available with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost the 2012 “International Engine of the Year”, an ECOnetic technology version powered by a 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine which achieves 87 g/km CO2. It also features new smart technologies including the voice-activated in-car connectivity system SYNC and SYNC Emergency Assistance that directly connects vehicle occupants to local emergency services operators after an accident. The new Fiesta will also debut Ford MyKey in Europe, this is a Ford exclusive technology that allows parents to encourage safer driving and limit their teenager’s exposure to risk at the wheel. Keys may be configured with a variety of settings and feature Speed Control which gives the owner the ability to limit the top speed to 80 mph plus Volume Control allowing the owner to adjust the volume of the radio remotely and Beltminder to remind the driver to buckle their seat belt by muting the vehicle's radio and chiming for six seconds every minute for five minutes, there is also an additional feature of an earlier fuel reminder and a speed reminder chime at 45, 55 or 65 mph. So if you have new driver in the family this is a fantastic specification that will provide peace of mind.
