Mercedes-Benz is to remove petroleum from its vehicle lineup by 2015.
Mercedes-Benz is to remove petroleum from its vehicle lineup by 2015. Instead of running Petroleum vehicles The german car manufacturer is going to turn its attention to researching alternative fuel sources such as electric, fuel cell, and biofuels.
Mercedes have already developed a DiesOtto engine which may be available from 2010 that gets nearly the same efficency as a diesel engine by combining HCCI and spark ignition which runs on biofuels.
Mercedes is making serious investments, already putting nearly $4 million into the pot of their long-term Sustainable Mobility plan, with another nearly $1.4 billion going in before 2014.
