The Peugeot 208 is over there, over there, and over there too.
The Peugeot 208 is over there, over there, and over there too. Why? Because since its launch on June 28th 2012 a staggering 7,500 orders have been recorded. Rather a lot, then. This figure must have been boosted by Peugeot's Just Add Fuel Offer. This enables motorists to pay a monthly sum that covers: vehicle hire, insurance, warranty, servicing, road tax, and roadside assistance. Hence, 'just add fuel'. Drivers also clearly love the 208's styling, fun handling, striking image, and low running costs. The most efficient trims, after all, average a tremendous 83mpg and can be taxed for free thanks to their low emissions.Morgan Lecoupeur, Marketing Director for Peugeot UK, revealed: “There has been an incredible and positive response to the new 208 - illustrated by the initial 7,500 orders. It really has been a tremendous start for the car, as it was also named Best Supermini at the Auto Express Awards during the first week of launch.” Morgan added: “The 208 also obtained five stars from Euro NCAP, certifying its safety credentials, and was the first car in its segment to achieve this following the introduction of more demanding review criteria.” So, let us consider Euro NCAP's five-star rating in detail. The Peugeot 208 – which is now over there in the corner - scored 88% for adult occupant protection, 78% for child occupants, and 61% for pedestrians. It also managed 83% for the safety assist category that includes equipment such as the seatbelt reminder system and electronic stability programme. The latter uses computers and sensors to help keep it pointing the right direction. No wonder this supermini sells better than sliced bread. Perhaps hundreds have been ordered in the last thirty seconds. Over there? The new 208 will soon be everywhere.
