Plans to Tax London's High CO2 Vehicles Scrapped
Plans to charge 25 pounds a day for high level CO2 vehicles in London have been scrapped
Plans to increase the London congestion charge to 25 pounds a day for high level CO2 vehicles have been scrapped by the new London Mayor Boris Johnson. The increase charge was due to be brought it in October and was the idea of the formor London Mayor Ken Livingstone.
The proposed charge would have scrapped the 8 pound charge for small fuel-efficient vehicles and would have only charged larger faster gas-guzzling vehicles. The conservative party had pledged to scrap the proposed charge if they won the London Mayoral seat.
The existing congestion charge scheme will not be affected.
