Porsche are developing their own electric car to rival and eclipse the model S and their ambitions carry a lot of potential...
A Porsche Product Manager told Automobile Magazine 'It'll be something entirely different than any of its competitors, across the board'
Porsche have been working on their Mission E concept for a while now - over 12 months and there had previously been no promises that the car would ever be anything more than a concept vehicle.
Now it looks like the high-tech Porsche will be come to fruition before 2020 and the German Automakers are setting their benchmark as the current king of EVs, the Tesla Model S.
Porsche have labelled the ludicrous mode in the Model S as simply a facade. Stating that just two hard-launches in this mode will completely drain the battery. The Porsche will be much better, here are some predictions from Dr Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG…
The Mission E will…
- Achieve 0-60mph in under 3.5 seconds
- Charge itself wirelessly from conductive
- Achieve 80% battery charge in just 15 minutes
- Lap the Nordschleife in less than 8 minutes
- Travel over 500km on one charge
- Seat 4 adults in relative comfort
Never before have Porsche targetted a competitor so directly and obtusely when developing a car, but we can understand why they are keen to ensure they remain at the forefront of this revolutionary segment of vehicles, after all, they are Porsche and they’ve excelled in every market they have entered since introduction in 1931. On the other hand; Tesla, the plucky newbies, have only been around since 2003 but have certainly caused shockwaves in the automotive world.
All we know is this is going to be a very juicy rivalry between the two manufacturers and we can’t wait to battle their models against one another when 2020 does come round...
