The diesel variants will start at £19,245 for the 2.2-litre 150ps SKYACTIV-D SE in both body styles. Buyers can also choose between five equipment levels (SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav). The choice of three naturally-aspirated high compression petrol powerplants and one turbocharged diesel are all fitted with i-stop, Mazda’s idle-stop system, as standard. The 1.5 litre petrol engine returns 56.4mpg and has Co2 emissions of 118g/km. The 2.0 litre petrol is probably the most economical petrol version returning 55.3mpg and approximately 50.4mpg for the automatic version. The diesel returns an impressive 72.4mpg with Co2 emissions as low as 104g/km. Peter Allibon, Sales Director, Mazda UK said “as well as combining Mazda’s fuel-saving SKYACTIV technology and the striking ‘KODO Soul of Motion’ design theme, the all-new Mazda3 raises our traditionally generous equipment levels to a new high, outperforming many established C-segment rivals in terms of innovation, specification and price.”
The full range of lightweight SKYACTIV technology is standard in the new line-up, SKYACTIV centres on three key areas; advanced engines with world-beating compression ratios, highly efficient transmissions, and sophisticated lightweight chassis technology for outstanding crash safety performance and enhanced driving enjoyment. Eighty percent of energy contained in fuel is lost within a vehicle’s powertrain, so Mazda’s engineers adopted a radical back-to-basics approach to boosting the outright efficiency of their next-generation engines.
Every all-new Mazda3 will come with Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) which helps to reduce or prevent low-speed collisions by automatically applying the brakes if the driver fails to act, Hill Hold Assist (HHA) to prevent roll back and will introduce new internet connectivity with ‘Aha’ and ‘Stitcher’ app integration. Specification on the entry level SE includes 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power-folding heated mirrors, leather steering wheel, trip computer, radio/CD with six speaker audio system, 7-inch TFT colour touch screen, USB/iPod connectivity and Bluetooth® hands-free system.
All-new Mazda3 will be available in a range of nine exterior colours, including the sensational ‘Soul Red’ metallic which was first seen on the larger, new-generation Mazda6.
