The Škoda Superb Elegance Estate 2.0 TDI CR 170PS 4x4 DSG has been named the ‘Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2014’. This fabulous estate car was voted overall winner in its class and the panel of nine judges said that it lived up to its name ‘simply superb’.

Vehicles were divided into seven price categories, and Class wins in the competition went to the SsangYong Korando SE, the Škoda Octavia hatch 1.2 TSI SE 105PS, the Volkswagen Jetta Sport 2.0TDI DSG, the Škoda Superb Elegance Estate 2.0 TDI CR 170PS 4x4 DSG, the Jaguar XF 2.2D Luxury, the Jaguar XF Sportbrake 3.0D Portfolio and the Land Rover Range Rover SDV8 Autobiography. From these Class winners, the sleek, stylish and very capable Škoda Superb emerged as the overall victor, with all driving judges agreeing that “this vehicle is as good as it gets” and “you wouldn’t know you were towing a caravan.”  This yearly competition provides caravanners with as much information about vehicles as possible including the evaluation of the towcars dynamic abilities and ergonomic qualities. Tests include a mid-range 30-60mph acceleration assessment, high-speed towing appraisal, reversing, emergency braking, ride and handling evaluations as well as hill-stop and restart trials. This year for the first time, car roof loads were assessed, taking in the capacity to carry items such as bicycles.

Fuel economy is exceptional

The Skoda Superb Estate offers fantastic value with class-leading legroom, a cavernous boot space which opens to 1,865 litres with the seats down and a long list of standard equipment.  Fuel economy is approximately 44.8mpg and CO2 emissions are 165g/km. The car offers practicality, efficient engines, low prices and competitive running costs everything that even a motorist without a caravan would be looking for. The Skoda Superb Estate most definitely ticks all the boxes.

A great deal of thought has gone into the new Skoda Superb, numerous clever features are seen throughout the Superb including an umbrella stored in the door, a Jumbo Box in the centre console, storage pockets in the doors and under the passenger seat, there is a practical sunglasses compartment the storage area in the centre armrest of the backseat is a well thought extra.  This is also true of the boot which offers practical features such as an optional variable boot floor, lockable storage, bag hooks, lashing eyelets and optional holding nets.
