The Toyota Avensis promises a mix of superior quality, dynamic handling and refined ride comfort
The Toyota Avensis was recently put to the test in the eighth annual ALD Automotive/TOTAL Eco 10 MPG Marathon and the Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D diesel returned an average 74.35mpg which is almost 40% more than its official combined cycle figure. The Toyota Avensis diesels use the latest generation of Toyota's tried and tested D-4D technology and include a 130bhp 2.0-litre, a 150bhp 2.2-litre and another 2.2-litre with 180bhp and a massive 400Nm of torque. If you opt for the automatic you will get a clever Multidrive S CVT gearbox with wheel-mounted paddle shifters in petrol models but a more conventional six speed automatic in the diesels.
The Toyota Avensis promises a mix of superior quality, dynamic handling and refined ride comfort and Toyota has confirmed that active and passive safety standards are brought to an even higher level thanks to advanced safety features such as Steering-assist Vehicle Stability Control (VSC+), Adaptive Front Light System (AFS) and Pre-Crash Safety System (PCS).
