‘Frozen Black’ Metallic paint
Mini has introduced an exclusive new paint variant ‘Frozen Black Metallic’ this limited edition colour is available for the top of the range Mini Countryman and Mini Paceman models. This innovative paint which has a textured, shimmering matt finish, gives the car a striking and expressive appearance. The new colour and finish is available for the Mini Cooper S Countryman, Mini Cooper SD Countryman, Mini Cooper S Paceman, Mini Cooper SD Paceman, Mini John Cooper Works Countryman and Mini John Cooper Works Paceman.
The Frozen Black metallic paint finish is created using a complex manufacturing process exclusive to the BMW Group. This special painting procedure, which involves not just innovative technology but also a high level of manual craftsmanship, is now being applied for the first time by Austrian production partner Magna Steyr in Graz where the MINI Paceman and MINI Countryman are produced. The special surface treatment encompasses the base layer for grip and corrosion protection, the colour layer as well as the clear lacquer finish which has added silicates to create the matted impression as well as the velvet effect which can be seen and felt.
Model-specific front and rear aprons and exterior mirror caps are finished separately in the paint finish Frozen Black metallic. The colour has been limited to a restricted number of cars due to the labour intensive process used to apply the exclusive body colour. The finish is completely weather resistant and car wash resistant; however hand washing does require special care as spot cleaning of the surface using wax or polish can leave an unwanted gloss effect. For this reason the BMW Group offers care products developed specially for treating the Frozen Black metallic paint finish.
The Mini Countryman was the first mini to have four doors, seating for five adults and the first to offer four wheel drive. It is the tallest Mini ever built and is three feet longer than the original. The Mini Countryman is an SUV with outstanding fuel economy. Six engine variants are available; three petrol and three diesels, there is also the ultra-sporty Mini John Cooper Works Countryman, powered by a turbocharged 160 kW/218 hp engine.
The new Mini John Cooper Works Paceman was launched at the beginning of the year; this new model blends the overall concepts of the first Sports Activity Coupe in its class with powertrain and chassis technology developed on the back of extensive motor sport expertise and the standard presence of ALL4 all-wheel drive. The powerful turbo charged engine gives the car the racy edge and the lowered sports suspension and aerodynamic kit gives the race competition feeling. It is capable of 0-62mph in just 6.9 seconds but the fuel economy is approximately 38.2 mpg and better still this nippy fun car is great to drive and is available in the limited edition ‘Frozen Black’ metallic paint.
