Toyota will produce its 3 millionth vehicle manufactured in the UK today and workers are celebrating the milestone by planting a commemorative tree.
The Toyota Auris 1.33 litre will be the milestone vehicle when it drives off the assembly line today. The Toyota Auris recently underwent a slight facelift to bring it more up to date next to the Toyota Avensis, Verso and Urban Cruiser. The front and rear have received big changes including new lights and bumpers and a reshaped bonnet and grille. The sporty SR Toyota Auris has received five spoke 17 inch alloys, a roof spoiler plus rear darkened privacy glass and headlamps.
The first vehicle produced by Toyota in Europe, a Carina E, drove off the Burnaston production line on the 16th December 1992. Nine years later, in April 2001, TMUK produced its one millionth vehicle. The two millionth vehicle was manufactured in October 2005. Later this month will see the start of production of the Toyota Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive vehicle and engine at Burnaston and Deeside. The Toyota Auris Hybrid features low maintenance and long life components to reduce the cost of ownership including low emissions starting from 89g/km and great fuel economy starting from 74.3mpg.
