Key performance figures for the hybrid powered Toyota: Yaris, Auris, Prius, Prius Plug-In, Prius+ and RAV4
Toyota 3 years free servicing on hybrids
Toyota has a hybrid car for everyone as its range includes supermini, multi-purpose and sports-utility models. But what is a hybrid? Population comes via a petrol engine and electric motor. The latter is fuelled via a battery which is recharged on the move.
Both the petrol engine and electric motor propel the vehicle when required, but in some circumstances only the motor – which consumes no petrol and emits no carbon - takes the strain. Toyota hybrids also come with 3 years free servicing when ordered by June 30th 2016. All the manufacturer's car's come with a 5 year warranty too.
Toyota Yaris Hybrid
The Toyota Yaris Hybrid is a supermini so excels in congested cities thanks to its tight turning circle and good visibility. Its 1.5-litre, 100hp, petrol/hybrid system is teamed with automatic transmission, averages up to 85.6mpg and emissions start from 75g/km. Prices for this 5-door hatch range from £14,995 to £17,795.
Active is the entry level version and includes: dual-zone climate control, electric front windows and 7 airbags. It is surpassed by the: Icon, Design and Excel – all of which have a 286-litre cargo capacity. Features available on higher-spec versions include: cruise control, auto lights, daytime running lights and nicer trim.
Toyota Auris Hybrid
The Toyota Auris Hybrid is a small, family class, hatchback which is spacious enough for young families yet small enough to be manoeuvred easily in tight spaces. Expect up to 83.08mpg – and carbon emissions from 79g/km – from its 1.8-litre, 136hp, petrol/electric system that is connected to automatic transmission.
Auris trims are: Active – which has climate control and Bluetooth – rising to Icon, Business Edition, Design and Excel. The top-spec model has: satellite navigation, wi-fi connectivity, voice recognition, a reversing camera and cruise control. This 5-door hatchback's boot volume is 360-litres. All from £20,045 to £24,395.
The Toyota Prius is a large, family class, hatchback and among the more recognisable hybrids thanks to its longevity. Its 1.8-litre petrol/electric system – in its most efficient 122hp form – averages up to 94.1mpg and emits carbon at a rate of 70g/km. This 5-door also has auto transmission and costs from £23,295 - £27,450.
Trims are: Active, Business Edition, Business Edition Plus and Excel. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and a rear-view camera come standard, even on the entry level Active. The Excel also has: touch-screen satellite navigation, voice recognition plus wi-fi. Cargo capacity is either 445 or 502-litres.
Toyota Prius Plug-In
The Prius Plug-In builds on the strengths of the Prius. The advantage is that its battery can be charged via a plug, rather than on the move only. This, theoretically, enables motorists that only take short, low energy, trips to barely use the petrol engine.
Expect up to 134.5mpg – plus carbon emissions from 49g/km - via its 1.8-litre petrol and electric power plant (auto gearbox). The Prius Plug-In comes in one form and has a: rear-view camera, cruise control, automatic windscreen wipers and tyre pressure monitoring system. Cargo capacity is 442-litres and prices start from £28,395.
The Toyota Prius+ is a 5-door hatchback with 7 seats, the manufacture explained. It might, therefore, be best to perceive it as a family-friendly, multi-purpose, vehicle. The 1.8-litre, 136hp, petrol/hybrid system – which works in conjunction with a automatic gearbox - averages up to 74.3mpg with carbon emissions from 96g/km.
Furthermore, the rear and middle seats fold flat individually to balance the needs of passengers and their luggage. Cargo capacity is 232-litres with a full set of passengers. Trims are: Icon, Excel and Excel Plus all of which have: a head-up display, rear-view camera and push button start. Prices range from £26,995 to £31,245.

The Business Edition Plus is the entry trim and has: push button start, a rear-view camera, dual-zone climate control, voice recognition, ISOFIX child seat connection and seatbelt reminder throughout. The Icon and Excel follow; with the latter adding: front/rear parking sensors, 18” alloy wheels and silver roof rails.
