Toyota is the world's greenest brand, according to a new global survey by international consultancy experts Interbrand. The report considers brands' environmental performance, coupled with the public's perception of their environmental sustainability. Based on info from leading world markets - including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, USA, Japan, Brazil and India - the report gives Toyota a top-score of 64.19 points, ahead of 3M in second. The Interbrand report concludes that Toyota is 'a leading example of making the environment a core management priority, while also engaging in a meaningful way with audiences around the world'. Clearly worthwhile, as this strategy can help increase sales. Toyota's excellent environmental credentials are partly due to its long-term full-hybrid technology programme. The ever-popular Prius, for example, is now in its third successful generation – and Toyota and Lexus combined have amassed more than 3.2 million hybrid vehicle sales since 1997. Furthermore, the Japanese motoring giant has recently switched-on a large-scale solar power system at its Derbyshire manufacturing plant.
