The used Honda S2000 is the perfect convertible for motorists who constantly crave chocolate
The used Honda S2000 is the perfect convertible for motorists who constantly crave chocolate. This is because this Japanese stunner's silky smooth body looks like it was poured over the chassis like liquid co-co. The result is a strikingly curvaceous convertible that attracts admiring glances everywhere it goes. The S2000 was introduced in 1999 to celebrate Honda's 50th birthday. It was updated in 2002 and 2004, although these improvements did not include offering a second engine choice. Therefore, the only engine available is the 2.0-litre 240bhp petrol which is smooth in town, but becomes a raging full-fat chocolate special from 6,000 - 9,000rpm. This unit is magnificent and propels the S2000 to 60mph in 6 seconds, and on to a maximum speed of 150mph. The S2000 is very much a hard core sports car, and this is reflected in the handling. The rear-wheel drive chassis, particularly on later models, is beautifully balanced so enthusiastic drivers can power into corners knowing that under-steer should remain a stranger. The rear wheels also have plenty of grip although it is worth choosing a model with traction control for extra peace of mind. Oh, and batten down the hatches on rough roads. The firm set-up means the ride can be harsh enough to make your fruit and nut bar bounce like a kangaroo. Prices for the used Honda S2000 vary considerably, but Motoring.co.uk's used car database reveals 2006 examples start at roughly £15,000. Unfortunately, this price does not include a tour of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, so if you fancy getting inside you will have to hunt for a golden ticket.
