The Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4 Turbo can be bought for less effort than snoozing through
one of those torturous school nativity plays. How? Via a 0% interest finance plan. And
guess what? The motorist – once he/she wakes up and escapes the hoard of children
- can tweak the contract's terms via a flexible finance calculator. Options include
the size of the deposit, the monthly payments and the length of the contract. The
manufacturer will also contribute £750 toward the vehicle's deposit. If the motorist
does not increase this sum – and purchases over twenty-four months – the regular
payments will be £652.30. This totals £16,405.20 including the manufacturer’s £750.
The buyer could, however, make smaller instalments over any number of months up to
sixty so the payments could fall to £260.92. Plus, if the customer increases the deposit
to (say) £5,000 in total this further shrinks the instalments over sixty months to £190.09.
Significantly, however the finance terms are set the total remains more or less the same
and the driver owns the car at the end of the term. If only school plays were so much fun.
Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4 Turbo Review
The Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.4 Turbo is a high-spec model so it has plenty of strengths
(unlike the plot of a school nativity play). These include its 120PS petrol engine that
propels motorists to 62mph – and away from children dressed as “wise men” - in 10.3
seconds. That is reasonably fast for the class. Furthermore, this supermini averages
51.4mpg, returns 62.8mpg on the extra-urban cycle and hits 39.2mpg in town. These
figures are more than respectable for a petrol engine. This ensures that carbon
emissions are only 129g/km which places this run-around in Road Tax Band D. It can
therefore be taxed for free in year one then for £105 from year two (at today's rates).
The Corsa also has sure-footed handling thanks to its refined suspension, nicely
weighted steering and respectable ride that make it entertaining and comfortable.
It is practical too. As such, this five-door hatchback has a spacious cabin and class-
competitive 285-litre boot that can be increased to 1,100-litres by folding the rear seats
flat. These attributes sit alongside the fair specification that includes: air-con, cruise
control, electric front windows, power mirrors, power steering and the CD/MP3 stereo.
What nice things to dream about while snoozing through the school nativity play.
