Volkswagen won because of the high level of standard security across all 11 of its model ranges. Audi was placed second, despite recording a higher number of first place positions in the various categories, and Volvo followed in third place.Modern cars are now proving impossible to steal, gone are the days of stealing a car with a screwdriver to the car lock and pulling some wires beneath the steering column. There is a huge reduction in thefts due to a raft of security systems including alarms, locks, immobilisers, toughened glass and tracking devices. However, 80 percent of thieves use the car's keys, and it's estimated that one fifth of home burglaries are undertaken specifically to steal them.
