Orders are under way for the new Volvo V40 Cross Country with first deliveries in January 2013. The V40 Cross Country is Volvo's answer to customers looking for a small five door hatchback but with a more 'off-road' and rugged look. As standard, the Cross Country SE is offered with autofolding door mirrors with ground lights and black mirror covers, 16" alloy wheels, rain sensor, textile/T-Tec upholstery, tread plates and silver roof rails. The Cross Country can be further enhanced by specifying the Cross Country Lux version. This includes the ample specification of the SE, plus leather-faced upholstery, active bending xenon headlights, 17" alloy wheels, LED day-running lights, rear reading and theatre lighting.
The Volvo Cross Country combines class-leading driving dynamics, interior comfort with low emissions (99g/km CO2 on D2 models), impressive fuel economy and pioneering safety technology. Start/Stop is fitted as standard across the range, together with Bluetooth hands-free communication and wireless music playing, plus City Safety auto-braking technology and the V40's world-first pedestrian airbag. The V40 Cross Country is also the only car in its class to be available with Pedestrian Detection technology.
The V40 is also the safest car in its class too, having achieved the highest score ever recorded by EuroNCAP in recent crash tests, thanks in part to pioneering technologies such as the world's first pedestrian airbag and Volvo's autonomous braking system City Safety, which also now qualifies for reduced insurance premiums.
The Volvo Cross County is built alongside the standard Volvo V40 and R-Design models it brings the unique blend of capable ruggedness and expressive elegance up to a new altitude in the premium C-segment. The D2 models offer low emissions at just 99g/km and boast impressive fuel economy and pioneering safety technology.
The Volvo V40 range has been strengthened by the arrival of the new three Cross Country variants and the R-Design. Nick Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, said "for years now, Volvo has offered the solution for drivers who want a premium vehicle experience with low emissions and low running costs, but who don't want to sacrifice equipment, styling or safety features. Put simply, the V40 delivers unprecedented choice in the premium hatchback sector without compromise for the customer. Our customers can enjoy low fuel and tax benefits thanks to sub-100g/km CO2 emissions, yet still have the luxury of SE Lux spec if they want to plus they get to choose from the V40, V40 R-Design or V40 Cross Country bodystyles."
The new Volvo V40 Cross Country is priced starting at £22,595, the T5 Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav with All-Wheel Drive is priced from £33,875.
