World Car of the Year 2015 is the Mercedes Benz C-Class
The Final Three
The road to the 2015 World Car of the Year Awards is certainly a long one. It started back in October last year in Paris where the jurors began the process of judging the cars. Finally, the overall winners are declared at the New York Motor Show the first week of April. There are five main World Car of the Year categories each shortlisted to three cars, the categories are made up from the World Luxury Car of the Year, World Performance Car of the Year, World Green Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and the overall 2015 World Car of the Year.
The three finalists for the World Car of the Year were the Ford Mustang, the Mercedes Benz C-Class and the Volkswagen Passat. The Mercedes Benz C-Class has gained the top honours as World Car of the Year in fact it was a hat trick for Mercedes as the Mercedes AMG GT won World Performance Car of the Year and the S-Class Coupe won World Luxury Car of the Year. The BMW i8 was awarded World Green Car of the Year and the Citroen C4 Catcus won World Car Design of the Year.
Setting new standards in the premium medium size category
The C-Class has always been a trendsetter but the new C-Class has set new standards in the premium medium-size category. The new model boasts excellent aerodynamics and new economical engines together with a high class interior and a host of technical innovations, all qualities usually reserved for a higher class car. The all new C-Class is Mercedes at its best and the World Car of the Year award is now the icing on the cake.
