" Really wanted the BMW 6 Gran Coupe but only the X5 took all our golf clubs and dog plus luggage. Nice to drive but totally useless off road. Just don't bother. Fuel consumption nothing like that claimed. I am not a boy racer yet struggle to get mid 30mpg. Handling for its size is very good and one does feel very safe. Sliding sunroof is brilliant as are the electric seats. Long service interval and the 5 year service package is very good value. "

" Excellent performance for a big vehicle, average mpg 31, and I only do short runs. Disappointed with the ivory seats, they get very dirty from trousers even worse if you wear jeans. Looks very sporty. I do seem to catch the wheels a lot on kirbs as the car is wider than you think. Turning circle is disappointing compared to my previous Discovef and RR Sport. Difficult to park in tight spaces. But overall well pleased. "

" 2006 vehicle purchased in 2016. All depreciation in value gone and left with a beautifully handling, quality car. Hard to beat a BMW for build quality. "

" I bought the X5 second hand and would certainly have another one, the auto box on the early ones are suspect because BMW say it is sealed for life, unfortunately that does not mean the life of the vehicle just the life of the oil. GM 5 speed boxes are ok but the ZF 6 speed box is more reliable but all in all the X5 is a superb vehicle, good on performance, comfort, economy. A good rival to the Range Rover who incidentally fitted the BMW engines to their vehicles for a time. The X5 is a 5 star machine. "

" Superb vehicle that can be driven for hours and hours with pleasure whith typical BMW performance, and works acceptably well off-road too (bearing in mind that BMW's all-weather tyres are not all terrain tyres!) Let down badly by slow on board computing/software and poor and slow voice recognition. The large display screen still has no touch control capability and the satnav is poor - with poor navigation and "fast" routes regularly slower than the optimal route. It also has way too many road priorities incorrectly recorded and some major roads incorrectly mapped which makes navigation hard - especially from the heads-up display. The dynamic route management element of the route navigation on the other hand does seem to work pretty well. Neither navigation or the excellent heads-up display show the vehicle's position in detail in relation to road junctions and the latter does not show the speed limit display whereas as it does for the cruise control which seems an over sight Would also be good if the excellent road speed limit indicator had a setting to allow prompts if the vehicle speed is exceeding this. BMW really regularly update their software and provide (ideally free) updates. Adaptive LED lights out of this world. "

" Surprisingly sprightly and agile, with no rolling on bends. The cabin is a great place to spend time, and it helps that the upgraded sound system is brilliant! "
