Drive Safe Drive the Hyundai Santa Fe
The Hyundai New Generation Santa Fe has been named the safest car in its class by Euro NCAP during 2012
The Hyundai New Generation Santa Fe has been named the safest car in its class by Euro NCAP during 2012, it is one of the safest vehicles ever tested and the best in the ‘Large Off-Road 4x4’ segment ahead of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and Range Rover which is a massive achievement.
Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe said “having the New Generation Santa Fe recommended by Euro NCAP as the safest car in its class demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to the safety of its customers and other road users. The car’s inherent safety combined with low CO2, high levels of equipment and emotional design make the New Generation Santa Fe the complete package for European buyers.”
Every Santa Fe comes with seven airbags and numerous electronic driver aids which include stability control and Trailer Stability Assist, the standard security kit includes an immobiliser, deadlocks and locking wheel nuts. In the unfortunate event of a collision with a pedestrian the bonnet automatically raises by 60mm to help minimise head injuries. The result of this is a ‘pedestrian safety’ score of 71%, making the New Generation Santa Fe stand out among its rivals in this category with the nearest high score being 63%.
Santa Fe buyers can choose between front- and four-wheel drive and manual and automatic gearboxes. The two wheel drive manual model returns an average of 47.9mpg and the four wheel drive manual approximately 46.3mpg. The four wheel drive automatic returns 41.5mpg, so all options deliver similar running costs. There is the option of either a five seat or seven seat Santa Fe both are extremely spacious with plenty of head and leg room. If you can pay extra it is probably worth choosing the seven seat version as the third row of seats just fold up from the boot floor when needed and when not in use there is no difference to the boot space. The entry level Hyundai Santa Fe comes with generous standard equipment including alloy wheels, reversing sensors, air-conditioning, Bluetooth and voice control. The next level brings heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, a reversing camera and touch-screen sat-nav and the range-topping version gets electric driver’s seat adjustment, keyless entry and go, front parking sensors and a panoramic sunroof.
It’s also worth remembering that every Hyundai comes with Hyundai’s Five Year Triple Care. This award-winning customer assurance package includes a five-year warranty with no mileage limit, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.
