Fiat 500 with new diesel engine
Fiat is updating the diesel engine in the Fiat 500 diesel for a new one
Fiat is updating the 1.3 litre Multi Jet turbo diesel engine in the Fiat 500 diesel for a new one. This will be 20bhp more powerful than the original with a maximum output of 95bhp which will result in considerable performance improvements.
Top speed in the new Fiat 500 diesel will increased to 112mph from 103mph and the 0-62mph acceleration time will be 10.7 seconds a big difference from 12.5 seconds. Co2 emissions have also been improved to 104g/km but not enough to put the Fiat 500 diesel in to a new VED band. Savings can be made though from the improved fuel economy of 72.4mpg.
The Fiat 500 was recently voted best supermini by readers of What Car. It is also available in 1.2 or 1.4 petrol and the new Fiat 500 can be ordered in three different trim levels Pop, Sport and Lounge. With a starting price of just £8,700 on the road, the Fiat 500 represents outstanding value for money and positions the car below benchmark rivals. The top of the range Lounge versions start at £10,100 a price that includes alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard.
