It is extremely comfortable has loads of leg space and is extremely quiet in the cabin, so much so that passengers do not realise it is diesel powered. It has every accessory you can think of fitted as standard and a fantastic radio/cd player giving premium quality sound. Just cannot wait to drive it again.! "|

It is around 400 kilograms lighter than the previous xj x308 iteration being aluminium bodied not steel so uses appreciably less fuel. The turbo charged diesel engine was bought in by Jaguar from Peugeot and is as fitted to Land Rover discovery 3 and the citroen 6. As a used car it is a tremendous proposition, a magnificent piece of engineering for a tiny fraction of the cost of such a machine when new, and about the price of a very basic shopping trolley. Without question a delight to drive. Quite possibly one of the safest and strongest cars on the road. The acceleration is very strong all the way up to the legal maximum or thereabouts; whereas the engine of a v8 petrol jag used to start to really sing once up to speeds that would cause one's licence to be lost, this diesel one however accelerates nicely at all sensible speeds and offers no particular allure in getting up to warp speeds! The diesel is fast enough for most and after a professional remap even faster and more economical. The car always feels so much smaller than it size. Fully loaded so no wanting for toys. Practicality is good but rear leg room not close to the S Class. Boot takes 2 large suitcases with ease. Dealer are OK but not anywhere close to my old Lexus one. I am that happy with the car, I am saving up for the XJR. "|
|18/10/2016 15:37:13 Steve " After a few years dallying with faultless but dull Lexus I decided to risk buying a Jaguar. There was no way I would step outside the Jaguar main dealer network so the worry free 2 year warranty was a must. As fuel consumption was not even on my radar I searched for a V8 Portfolio but despite all efforts I didn’t find the right car, so I got the 3.0d Portfolio. I have never looked back. The car is an absolute delight. Fully loaded and a complete pleasure to sit in. For a large car it feels light, nimble and handles like Jag should. I have had it professionally remapped but not as to spoil the car’s nature. It has given it a much sharper response especially mid-range. This is the first car in years I have just driven for the sake of driving it. I have had a few niggles, as you expect as a Jaguar owner. The handbrake has failed to engage a few times, loose heat shields, sticking door handles, nothing serious and all dealt with by my dealer without question. I change my car every three years and have always changed model & brand. Not this time, I will without doubt, get another XJ – and it has to be the XJR. This will be a long term love affair. "|
